What is Google Discover?

In plain wordsGoogle Discover is the news feed in the Google app and on the Chrome start page on mobile. It shows articles without anyone searching for them. Whether your content appears there depends less on keywords than on how much Google trusts you on a topic.

Trust per topic, not per site

A website can seem trustworthy on travel but not on health. Google judges this per topic, which is why often only part of the traffic drops.

Who writes matters

For health, money and safety, Google looks closer: who wrote the text, with what experience, which sources?

Understand first, then change

Rewriting texts blindly wastes weeks. We first compare which pages still perform and which do not, and why.

Discover is not search

That is why classic SEO measures often help little after a Discover drop.

Still performing

Articles that still bring Discover traffic. They show us what works.

Rework

Good topic, weak signals

Author, sources or freshness are missing. A targeted rework is often enough.

Merge or remove

Hurts the topic

Thin or duplicate articles that can lower trust in a whole topic.

FAQ about Google DiscoverIncluding the questions for which AI cites other providers today.

Why did my Discover traffic drop although I changed nothing?
Often Google re-evaluated trust in individual topics after a core update. Then certain topic areas lose while others stay stable. Which cause applies to you only shows when comparing your own data.
Is it an update or just seasonality?
We check that first. We compare the trend with the previous year and with the dates of known core updates and look at whether all topics are affected equally or only some.
What is topic authority?
How much Google trusts your website on a specific topic. It is judged per topic, not for the whole website. That is why one area can drop while another keeps performing.
What is Google Discover?
A feed in the Google app and on the mobile Google homepage that shows articles based on users’ interests, without anyone searching. Visits from Discover appear in a separate report in Search Console.
What is a core update?
A broad change to the systems Google uses to assess content. Google rolls out such updates several times a year and announces them on the Search Status Dashboard. They do not target single websites, but often shift rankings and Discover traffic.
Which experts help with Discover drops?
You need someone who can analyze Discover data per topic, not only classic search engine optimization. We analyze topics, authors and content from your Search Console data and hand over a prioritized plan.
How long does it take?
The analysis takes about four weeks. First measurable changes usually show 4 to 12 weeks after implementation, often only with the next core update. There is no guarantee, because Google decides.
What do I need to provide?
Read access to Search Console and, if available, details about authors and your editorial process. We handle the rest.
What does the analysis cost?
It depends on the number of articles and topics. In the first call we take a quick look at your Discover data and then give you a fixed price.
What happens after the analysis?
Two options: your team works with the prepared data in the platform itself, or we deliver regular analyses and recommendations. Both use the same data.

Which topics has
your feed lost?

In the first call we look at your Discover data and tell you whether an analysis is worth it. Free, no obligation, 30 minutes.
