Is your hotel named when travelers ask AI?

Travelers ask ChatGPT and Google for the right hotel. The answers often list booking portals and big hotels. We measure for which travel questions your property appears and make sure AI knows it and can name it.

What does AI visibility mean for hotels?

In plain wordsAI recommends properties it can clearly identify and for which it finds clear details: location, amenities, who the hotel is for. If that is missing on your website and elsewhere online, it prefers to name a portal or a well known hotel.

Lost in the portal list

A family asks for a hotel with childcare. The answer names a booking portal, but not the matching hotel, although it offers exactly that.

The answer is not on the website

A guest asks whether they can charge an electric car at the hotel. The website mentions parking, but not the charging station.

Named, but what does it bring?

A hotel gets named in an AI answer. Whether that turns into a direct booking only shows with tracking under its own tag.

What our data shows

Our own measurements and studies, with sources. Where a number applies to all industries, we say so.

9 in 100clicks from longer search questions can be answered fully or partly by AI in the tourism, hotels and restaurants sector
85%of provider searches: ChatGPT names specific providers
2.48xhigher chance of a Perplexity citation when a page answers the question directly
−40%click-through rate for questions AI answers completely

For questions about providers, AI almost always names names. The only open question is whether yours is among them. In our data test, a citation was most strongly linked to whether a page answers the question directly.

Sources: The industry value comes from our AI click calculator, our own analyses of around 300 websites, mostly from Austria, as of October 2026. The other values apply to all industries: 85% and 35% from our provider analysis with 873 searches in four AI services, October 2026. 2.48x from our data test with 522 searches, a correlation, not proof. −40% from our AI Mode study, summer 2025 vs summer 2026. Which questions lead to names

Not every question ends with a recommendation. When someone asks for providers, ChatGPT almost always names names, for knowledge questions rarely. The first two rows matter most for you.

FAQ: AI visibility for hotelsIncluding the questions for which AI cites other providers today.

What do travelers really search for in hotels?
According to our analyses, mainly three things: proximity ("spa hotel near me"), price ("spa hotel value for money") and specific features such as adults only, a kids water world or a day pass without overnight stay. Exactly these details should be stated clearly on your website so Google and AI can match them to a question.
Why does ChatGPT recommend a booking portal instead of our hotel?
Portals have clear, uniform details for almost every property and are mentioned often online. If your own website lacks clear details on location, amenities and target guests, AI tends to fall back on such lists.
Is our hotel named for specific travel questions at all?
That can be measured. We ask the questions your guests ask several times in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI and count who gets named. We leave out questions containing your hotel name.
AI visibility audit
Which details does our website need?
Everything a guest wants to know before booking, clearly and on the page itself: location and arrival, amenities, who the hotel is for, season, prices from, parking and charging. Plus structured data based on Schema.org so machines read the details reliably.
Is our classic SEO enough?
It is the foundation, because AI systems often use pages that also rank well on Google. In our data test, however, a citation was also strongly linked to whether a page answers the question directly.
GEO data test
How do we optimize our hotel texts so ChatGPT cites them?
With specific details instead of marketing language: who the hotel suits, location with distances, facilities, prices from, arrival, parking, dogs and accessibility. Every page should answer a guest question in its first sentence. In our data test, the direct answer was most strongly linked to citations.
Is there an AI audit for hotels?
Yes. We ask typical travel questions about your region and audience several times in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google and show whether your hotel is named, which portals and competitors appear instead and what is missing. The AI visibility audit starts at €2,900 net.
Does it bring direct bookings?
We do not promise that across the board. We measure separately how often your property is named and how many visitors and inquiries reach your website from there. So you see what it really brings.
What does it cost?
It depends on the number of questions, locations and languages and on whether we also write content. In the first call we clarify the scope, then you get a fixed quote.

For which travel questions
is your hotel missing?

In the first call we ask a few typical guest questions live and show who gets named today. Free, no obligation, 30 minutes.
